Members present: Chair Ken Fowler, KF; Jason Berger (JB) Kate McNulty Vaughan (KM-V); Elaine Steinert (ES)
Minutes: ES made a motion to approve the minutes of July 3, 2007 with edits and JB seconded the motion. The Commission approved 4-0.
Applications: There were no applications.
Violations: Discussion regarding violations. Violations continue to increase. KF stated that the HDC should establish a plan of action and have the backing of the Select Board to handle violations. Though violations have been referred to the Building Inspector and he has sent out letters to the violators, little else has been done.
KF also asked the Commission if there should be more flexibility regarding signs.
The Commission was in agreement that there should be notification to the businesses in the District that the HDC is looking into all violations with a copy of the notification to the Building Inspector and Select Board. Advise the businesses that Historic District Bylaws and Guidelines are available.
ES said that she would compile a binder with photos of all store fronts in the HDC. KMV said that she would draft a letter of notification that would be sent to the businesses.
The Commission said that they would like to see what the reaction to the letter would be before deciding their follow up.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 pm.
